A member of The NZ Association for Training & Development I am bound by the NZATD Code of Professional Practice.
Born in Auckland, but very early on moved to rural NZ, I was raised in our family hospitality business in the boonies of the Wairarapa (Mangatainoka for all you Tui fans!) I had an early introduction to the trials and tribulations of being in business. My working life has been diverse. Pre-children spent in hospitality and banking, led to the last 20+ years of accounting, management and tertiary teaching. Some of my more heartfelt roles have been as a mentor with the Ministry of Social Development; Business Management and Business Growth Tutor and of course the privilege of parenting two incredible children – no bias there! 🙂 All have given me many lessons in life; there is a definite reciprocity with helping others.
Outside of small business, my interests include travel, anthropology and psychology, particularly why we do what we do; movies, reading, anything in on or around the ocean, sports, health & fitness, & socialising with friends & family.
My favourite colour: Purple
My favourite word: is “congruent.”
My favourite sport: is….was Squash BUT I’m really bad at it. So bad, I broke my arm, opposite hand and two fingers, split open another finger – all by missing a dropshot but getting the wall!
My favourite food: How can you have just one?
My favourite movie: Dirty Dancing, because it has brought me so much joy and connection and amazing memories of watching this with my gorgeous little nieces ….they’re no longer little!
My favourite place: Hard to have just one, but if I had to choose – Long Beach, Russell but Northland in general.
“I have worked in the same office space for an extended period of time with Simonne where she was Practice Manager & Consultant for a busy Auckland CBD Chartered Accountancy firm. Her professionalism was always evident, however what did impress me was her ability to communicate and subsequently obtain the buy in from a diverse group of accountants to the technology changes and upgrades that she was developing within the practice.
My practice, a niche insolvency and restructuring firm, recently had need of Simonne’s forensic skills in analysing a Xero file in a complex insolvency assignment that was suspected of being corrupted. I engaged Simonne as a Xero specialist to provide a report identifying the areas of risk and where there was a potential for ‘leakage’ to have been buried. The work and resulting report that Simonne provided was succinct and provided a clarity as to the specific areas of the Xero file that further forensic work was required. The work is ongoing and I will likely be engaging Simonne for further forensic work drilling down on those risk areas. I highly recommend Simonne as a highly competent professional who is also a great communicator.”

“Simonne’s skills are the perfect complement to an accountant’s. As a professional trainer and business development specialist, she expertly helps clients in areas of real value, but that are often a bit far from the core skills of accountants.
Simonne has helped my practice better serve our clients. At the same time, she has allowed me to focus on the areas where I can add the most value. Our clients are happier and so am I.”
